The EC just published its official proposals to the European Parliament and the Council (Member States) for the future Framework Programmes for Research & Innovation (HORIZON 2020) and for Competitiveness & SMEs (COSME), which are to be the successors of FP7 and CIP.

The HORIZON 2020 & COSME programmes will both run from 2014-2020 and the proposed budgets are € 80 billion for HORIZON 2020 and € 2.5 billion for COSME. The overall budgets will be influenced by the ongoing discussions between EC, EP and Member States about the general EU budget framework for the period of 2014-2020 and are likely to revised downwards. The content, procedures as well as the specific budget allocations per sub-programme or theme of HORIZON 2020 and COSME will also be subject to negotiations between EC, EP & Council over the coming months.

HORIZON 2020 and COSME are expected to be finally adopted in 2013 for a start on 1/1/2014. In the meantime FP7 and CIP will continue to offer funding opportunities for T/C research and innovation projects.
