The CrossTexNet ERA-Net project for supporting applied textile research through joint national/regional funding has just published its 3rd call for proposals. Regional and national funding agencies from Belgium, France, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Turkey participate in this call allowing companies and research organisation from the respective countries/regions can apply for funding. Submission deadline for project proposals is 12 March 2012.]]>
The EC just published its official proposals to the European Parliament and the Council (Member States) for the future Framework Programmes for Research & Innovation (HORIZON 2020) and for Competitiveness & SMEs (COSME), which are to be the successors of FP7 and CIP.]]>

Strong European Technology Showcase
Under the umbrella of the European Technology Platform, Euratex, Textranet & AUTEX jointly set up this European textile research and education showcase composed of some 25 stands of research organisations & EU projects on 22-29 Sept. at ITMA 2011 in Barcelona. The impressive high-tech showcase was also used to strengthen the sector image in a visit of European Commission representatives from DG Research & Innovation and DG Enterprise & Industry.]]>
In 29 Sept. the European Textile Technology Platform organises a project brokerage event in Brussels for the textile-related FP7 workprogramme topics of the 2012 calls of FP7 published in late July.]]>

The public consultation on the future EU research & innovation framework programme closed in May. Many of the priorities included in the Euratex & Textranet position papers are also highlighted in the consultation results just published by the EC. These include administrative simplification, better access for industry, especially SME’s and the maintenance of successful elements such as collaborative research funding and the support for European Technology Platforms. In the process also a new name for the next programme has been fund, based on public vote: HORIZON 2020—the Framework Programme for Research & Innovation. More information at:
