ITM - TU Dresden: Multi-scale simulation of textile structures and processes

At the ITM, intensive research is carried out on the modeling of structures and processes along the entire textile chain. By means of multi-scale modeling and simulation, a deep understanding of material and processes is achieved. For this purpose, multi-scale finite element models are developed and validated for woven, braided, and knitted fabrics.
The simulation results provide textile constructions according to the requirements for a subsequent structural analysis and further development of the textile products and processes. In addition, artificial neural networks are used to investigate, evaluate and optimize the influence of manufacturing parameters on the structural and physical properties of textiles.
