Refibra - Lenzing's initiative to drive circular economy in the textile world 

Lenzing achieved another milestone in its innovation heritage in the textile industry by developing a new fiber based on cotton scraps and wood. Refibra™ is the first cellulose fiber featuring recycled material on a commercial scale. The fiber is produced in the TENCEL® production process. TENCEL®, already a market success as an eco-friendly fiber, is now achieving another key milestone by creating from natural resources what is likely the most sustainable fiber. Refibra™ from cotton scraps and wood will further build Lenzing's reputation as a leader in the field of environmental fiber technology and will push new solutions in the textile industry towards circular economy by recycling production waste.

Financial success through Industry 4.0: Digital Capability Center opens in Aachen 

McKinsey partners with ITA GmbH and PTC: digital transformation learning factory provides hands-on experience of cutting-edge technologies' value and use
AACHEN. On 31 March 2017 saw the doors open on the Digital Capability Center (DCC) – a new kind of learning factory focusing on Industry 4.0. Manufacturing specialists, managers and future engineers can explore this realistic factory environment and offer them the tools they need to drive their own company's digital transformation. The motto: Explore – Try – Apply. "Through this textiles learning factory we're making a vital contribution to the digitization of production in Germany. We're empowering companies and their employees to successfully realize networked production. This will help German companies remain global leaders," said ITA Director Thomas Gries.

CORNET project ProGeo 

The CORNET project ProGeo2 “Geotextiles from Sustainable Raw Materials and Textile Waste, New Mobile Production Technology and New Application Fields in Drainage and Hydraulic Engineeringstarted at the beginning of 2017. Besides STFI and Forschungskuratorium Textil e.V. (FKT) as German partners, the Polish Institute of Textile Engineering and Polymer Materials of the University of Bielsko-Biala (ATH) and the Polish Association of Producers of Geosynthetics (SPG) are involved in the research cooperation. Objective of the project is the development and construction of a novel mobile technology for the on-site production of super coarse ropes made of renewable natural materials (hay, straw) or textile waste materials. These ropes will be used as erosion protecting geotextiles for embankments and slopes. New application fields of such systems will be tested and evaluated. These include hydraulic engineering, drainage and soil reinforcement.

Industry 4.0: DITF-MR presents Digital Textile Micro Factory at Texprocess 2017 in Frankfurt

On the way to the Textile Factory of the Future with Industry 4.0:At the upcoming Texprocess, DITF-MR will present the ‘Digital Textile Micro Factory’, a live demonstration of an integrated development and production chain for textiles and apparel.

In collaboration with Texprocess trade fair, VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies and a number of well-known companies of the textile sector, DITF-MR will demonstrate networked production – from the design stage to digital textile printing, automatic cutting and confection. Visitors at Texprocess can follow the process through the various stages involved in the Micro Factory and will be informed by experts at each stage. The Micro Factory as shown can easily be up-scaled for larger industrial applications.

ITA shows its expertise at JEC World 2017, Paris, France

Paris, France, 14 – 16 March 2017: ITA demonstrated its expertise along the entire process chain at the joint stand of the Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL) of RWTH Aachen University in hall 6 booth no. C79. ITA showed its knowledge from the raw material over the fibre up to innovative textiles and whole components.
Exclusive innovative processes and products were presented with different demonstrators. The exhibits came from different application fields: From aerospace and automotive applications to construction and housing and also medical uses.
