Textile ETP at Dornbirn GFC 2025
From 10 to 12 September 2025, Textile ETP took part in the Dornbirn GFC in Austria, represented by our President, Marina Crnoja-Cosic, and Secretary General, Lutz Walter. The Dornbirn GFC is one of the most renowned international conferences for the fiber and textile industry, gathering leading experts, researchers, and industry players to discuss the latest technological developments, sustainability strategies, and market opportunities.
Widely recognised as the leading European fibre and textile innovation event, this year’s congress once again attracted well over 500 participants and featured more than 100 expert presentations from both industry and research.
For Textile ETP, the Dornbirn GFC once again proved to be an excellent platform to connect with many of our members, exchange insights, and gain first-hand updates on their latest research and innovation activities. The event provided a vibrant setting for discussions on how our sector can collectively respond to current challenges and explore new opportunities within the global fibre and textile industry.
Several projects from ECOSYSTEX, the European Community of Practice for textile sustainability research coordinated by Textile ETP, were also prominently featured in the programme. Notable initiatives such as CISUTAC, PESCO-UP, DigInTraCE, ThreadingCO2, and BioFibreLoop were presented through expert talks, each showcasing tangible progress in advancing circularity, traceability, biobased solutions, and low-carbon pathways for textiles. Their strong presence at Dornbirn GFC underlined the growing impact of collaborative EU research projects in shaping the future of sustainable textiles.
The main focus areas of this year’s edition resonated closely with Textile ETP’s own strategic priorities. Textile circularity, biobased materials, carbon stewardship, and sustainable chemistry were central themes, complemented by emerging material innovations designed for high-performance applications in personal protection and defence markets. Together, these topics highlighted the sector’s ongoing transformation towards sustainability, digitalisation, and resilience; key pillars for ensuring Europe’s competitiveness in the global textile value chain.
Textile ETP also values its long-standing partnership with the Dornbirn GFC, which has become a cornerstone event in our annual calendar. Both our President, Marina Crnoja-Cosic, and our Secretary General, Lutz Walter, continue to contribute as members of the conference’s programme committee.
