Textile ETP at Première Vision 2025
On 16 September 2025, Textile ETP President Marina Crnoja-Cosic and Secretary General Lutz Walter attended Première Vision fashion fabrics fair in Paris, France.
Marina Crnoja-Cosic attended a European Textile and Apparel Industry Federations gathering issuing a call for urgent action against the rapid rise of ultra fast fashion, and warning the severe consequences of this phenomenon. The federations call on the European institutions and Member States to act without delay to, among others, enforce the reform of the European Customs Code, strengthen controls and sanctions through the DSA and DMA, and ensure VAT collection on these massive flows. The ultra fast fashion model, driven by major non-European e-commerce platforms, already accounted for 4.5 billion imported parcels in the European Union in 2024, representing 5% of clothing sales (20% online), and continues to grow at a staggering pace.
On the other side, Lutz Walter spoke at a panel discussing the challenges of scaling textile-to-textile recycling. He highlighted the need for targeted innovation to smartly address the various barriers that hold it back, namely the need to assure sufficient clean material feedstock streams, the development of standards and best practices for working with recycled materials along the textile processing chain and to overcome cost disadvantages with virgin fibres through gradual drop-in/blend-in or smart supply chain orchestration and costing. The panel also featured Andreas Dorner from RE&UP, Lucie Ladigue from Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, and was moderated by Elsa May, innovation & prospective consultant.
