Preparing the Smart Textile Sector for a Sustainable Future with Practical Learning on EU Regulations
The SusTEX project, formally known as Sustainable Smart Textiles for Industry and Education, has officially launched to help companies and learners navigate the growing number of sustainability requirements shaping the smart textile field. SusTEX's primary objectives are to map the real sustainability challenges of the sector, translate EU regulations into accessible learning content, and connect industry needs with education.

SmartX Innovation Hub at Industry Space Days 2026
On 16-17 September 2026, our Senior Manager Smart & Technical Textiles Judith Bosch represented SmartX Innovation Hub at ESA Industry Space Days, at ESA/ESTEC in Noordwijk. The event was also a chance to reconnect with SmartX members and test textile expertise against concrete space-sector needs.
SmartX Innovation Hub at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics and Cinte Techtextil China
In the past two weeks, our Senior Manager Smart & Technical Textiles Judith Bosch represented Textile ETP and the SmartX Innovation Hub in Shanghai at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics and Cinte Techtextil China, two fairs covering very different but complementary areas of the textile industry. Taken together, the two events showed innovation from two angles: what a material can be engineered to do, and what becomes possible once that material is part of a larger industrial system.

Textile ETP made the most of Techtextil-Texprocess 2026 with five guided innovation hub tours across both shows, a landmark presentation of the first SmartX strategy document on the future of EU technical textiles in defence, aerospace and protection, and a week of exchanges that bring industry reality and European funding opportunity into closer conversation.

Starting next year, our 3 Innovation Hubs introduce a new activity: strategic co-creation sessions designed to explore and identify opportunities in 3 different topics, and translate them into future EU funding prospects. This activity is created specifically for Innovation Hub members and aims to support collaborative, forward-looking strategic development.

On 4-7 November 2025, Düsseldorf hosted the A+A Trade Fair 2025, the leading international event for safety, security, and occupational health where Judith Bosch represented Textile ETP and the SmartX Innovation Hub to reconnect with key industry players and explore the latest advances in technical and protective textiles.

Strengthening global collaboration: Textile ETP presents the SmartX Innovation Hub in Taiwan
In September 2025, our Project Manager Judith Bosch went to Taiwan, made possible thanks to the Taiwan Textile Research Institute. This mission aimed to strengthen connections between European and Taiwanese innovation ecosystems, explore technological synergies, and identify new pathways for collaboration in smart, technical, and sustainable textiles.
